Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of our 99 day journey! If you have feedback or suggestions, please let us know! Our desire is to make this tool as effective as possible in helping you successfully complete your 99 day pursuit of God.

CONSIDER: In the first three chapters of Matthew we read about the faith of Joseph and Mary, the Magi, and John the baptist. These four people were passionate about God and desired to follow after him no matter the cost. Do you feel the same way about God in your life?

ACT: Make a list of things that might be in the way of your relationship with God and come up with a plan TODAY to draw closer to Him. To chase after God for 99 days will not be easy, but it will be totally satisfying.

  1. What I love about their faith is that it is a working faith. James 2:18-20 says our faith without works is useless. The characters in the first three chapters of Matthew had a working faith. Do you have a working faith?

  2. I think it's really amazing how "out of the box" faith is especially in these few chapters. Through the genealogy to the circumstance of Mary and Joseph, to the wisemen following a star and dreams - it really just makes you see how God does the unexpected, the socially unacceptable. I mean how many times in the lineage of Jesus is someone who is "unworthy" in the community's eyes made "worthy" because of their faith? Then in chapter 3 the religious people, those are "worthy" in the community's eyes, are scolded and told they will be thrown in the fire because they are missing faith. These people spend their time judging others and making themselves look good (much like Herod) instead of truly seeking God and I know that I am guilty of the same thing too often. So goal: focus on trusting God and not focusing on the appearances of myself and situations around me.

  3. Am I willing to get uncomfortable to live out my faith? Possibly extremely uncomfortable, way out of my box? It flies in the face our tendency toward that warm fuzzy expectation that says "life should be easy because I'm a Christian." These people lived out their faith in extraordinary ways, but I'm sure none of them would have described it as comfortable or easy!
