Day 6

READ: Matthew 16-18

CONSIDER: In Matthew 18: 21-35 Peter and Jesus have a discussion on forgiveness. Read it carefully..

ACT: Forgiving others can be hard sometimes but it is necessary. Is there something from the past that you've been holding onto? Do you need to forgive yourself or someone else?

  1. Forgiveness – often so much easier to receive it than it is to extend it to others! Nothing knocks the wind out of that sail like stopping for a moment to realize just exactly what I’ve been forgiven of….and how often. I easily can come up with so many reasons not to forgive (he didn’t ask for forgiveness, doesn’t deserve it, keeps offending repeatedly, the hurt was too great, etc.) - none of them good. Choosing not to forgive carries a heavy price in the long run. It costs me peace, grows to bitterness if left undone, and the dearest price comes in barriers it builds in my relationship with the Lord. Ultimately, forgiveness is between my Father and me. It’s about obedience and it’s for my good.
