Day 10

READ: Matthew 27-28

CONSIDER: Judas sells out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. It may seem crazy to think that someone could reject God for so little. But the truth is, we are no better then Judas. When we ignore God to fulfill our own desires we are rejecting Him. We do it all the time.. Thankfully as Christ followers, Jesus has given us an ocean of grace to swim in. We don't ever deserve anything that God has given us. We've all sold him over and over for much less than 30 pieces of silver, yet God loves us so much He is willing to do anything, even to die for us.

ACT: Today, think about how much God's love is for you. It cannot be measured, nor understood completely, it is divine and life changing. We owe him everything.

  1. After Judas Went and betrayed Jesus to the chief priests and elders, and he found out that they were going to kil l Jesus, he felt horrible. As he should have, he felt so bad that he went and hung himself. Can you image that? So many Christians today say they follow Christ, but if it came to money or their lives a lot of them would deny Him or betray him like Peter and Judas. Peter said that he would never deny Christ even if it meant his life… the next thing you know he had denied Christ three times. After Christ rose again He asked Peter if he loved Him three times.

    Matthew 27:11 – 26

When Jesus was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer, He was asked ‘ Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?” still He didn’t reply not even to a single charge. Pilate was allowed to release one prisoner chosen by the crowd. He had a notorious prisoner, name Barabbas. When the crowd gathered Pilate asked which prisoner they would like to be released, Barbbas, or Jesus (which he knew that it was out of envy the handed Jesus over to him.) His wife came up to Pilate and told him not to deal with Jesus because she had, had horrible dreams about Him. The chief priests and elder persuaded the crowd to choose Barabbas! Even though Jesus was innocent and He had not committed a crime, they wanted to crucify Him! Pilate could have stopped it because He had done nothing wrong, but he left it up to the people.
That’s ridiculous, they were killing Jesus out of envy. Im glad (beyond glad) he did that for us, because now if we accept Him get to spend eternity with Him. It just blows my mind that He would do that for me. A sinner who deserves to go to Hell, so that I could live with Him forever. He could have at any time called down angels and killed all of his prosecutors. But he didn’t. amazing.

  2. His love for us is unimaginable. I'm so thankful for my relationship with God.

  3. Meaghan - I was thinking about Christ's silence in the face of accusation too. It's hard enough to be silent if I'm being accused of something I did do - how much harder to be silent when the accusations are sooo false! That Christ did that just shows me how purposeful and committed to dying for us He was....and how much He must love us to have done that. I have a hard time wrapping my brain around love like that but I too am so thankful.

  4. The power behind the death of Jesus rocks the world to the core. The "price" of Jesus - a mere 30 pieces of silver always seems so inadequate - so terrible. But today, thinking about how God takes what was meant for evil and makes it good, how he takes inadequacy and makes it holiness - and what was that money responsible for in the end but a plot of land for foreigner's death. Guess what? That is exactly what Jesus died for - our (the foreigner's) death! God even took the measly 30 pieces of silver and gave us an example of the purpose of the brutality and when faced with that, my unworthiness seems so great, but I am so thankful that it is truth.
